Welcomes

Bob Nardo, CAO of Noble Street Charter Schools

and

Oli Sicat, Principal of UIC College Prep

It will be a great morning of professional networking, light breakfast, and a discussion about the value of charter schools.  Mr. Nardo and Mr. Sicat will share their perspectives on the importance of charter schools and how we can fundamentally change education in Chicago and Illinois for the better.  This is a can't-miss for anyone interested in having an impact on or just better understanding of our education opportunities and challenges.  And, this is sure to be a prominent issue in the 2010 elections.

BIOS

Bob Nardo

Bob Nardo is the Chief Administrative Officer for the Noble Network of Charter Schools.  Bob is responsible for coordinating all of our non-academic support services (e.g. technology, facilities / real estate, food service, and human resources), and also represents Noble to Chicago Public Schools and on political advocacy issues.  Bob coordinates Noble’s management support team, which provides advice and support to the CEO on strategic growth issues, and participates in the Noble Network principals’ team.  Prior to joining Noble, Bob led support operations for TEAM Schools, a network of KIPP schools in Newark, NJ, where he was also the school's band director.  Before working in charters, Bob had a variety of roles in grassroots organizing for political campaigns, research roles at two public policy think-tanks in Washington, DC, and worked in the speechwriting office of US Secretary of Education Rod Paige.

Oliver Sicat

Oliver Sicat is the Founding Principal of UIC College Prep, The LSV Campus of Noble Street Charter School.  Oliver joined the Noble Network in 2006 as a principal intern and chose to defer his principal position to 2008 in order to lead the UICCP campus.  He served as the assistant principal at Noble Street College Prep during his internship phase, and has been instrumental in several special projects throughout the Network, especially regarding teacher recruitment and marketing strategies.  Oliver came to Noble from Boston, where he was a successful math teacher in the Roxbury neighborhood and founded E-Magine, a remarkable after-school program focused on preparing disadvantaged students for the academic, personal, and social challenges of college.  Oliver is a graduate of the University of Southern California and obtained a Masters in Education from Harvard University.

Shea Coughlin

Shea Coughlin is the External Affairs Associate for the Noble Network of Charter Schools.  Shea is responsible for managing the Noble Auxiliary Board, Community of Support groups, small to mid-sized individual donors and local foundation and corporate donors for the Noble Network.  Before joining Noble’s team, Shea spent time managing a state AmeriCorps program that connected college graduates to public schools to tutor and provide teacher support.  After her time with AmeriCorps, she worked in development for a local social service agency.  Shea is a graduate of Miami University and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Public Service Administration from Depaul University.
